Commercial establishment that was founded in 1989 in Santa Luzia, a fishing village near Tavira (Algarve).

A former tavern, it was transformed into a restaurant and later into a tavern. It has always been known for its slogan "Tá o petisco a monte", which in local terms means lots of snacks. Always respecting the Mediterranean diet, we have several dishes based on the best octopus in the world!

Its location, among the streets of the town, privileges the secret only of those who know it or who seek it out on purpose.
Since its opening, it has won over the public with its traditional Portuguese food, prepared with high-quality ingredients.

With typical decor, a welcoming environment with just 60 seats and a family atmosphere, it ensures that the service provided is excellent and aims to completely satisfy its customers.


Luis Gorgulho and his team emphasise the importance of traditional Portuguese cuisine as a form of identity. At Alcatruz, they share their inspirations and emotions through the diverse flavours that can be found there. Each dish, from the simplest to the most complex, tells a story and aims to move those who decide to try it.
With humility, he won several awards for the preparation of his specialties, and his participation in several events proved to be great successes!
